Leadership often comes with a set of expectations that can feel overwhelming or even contradictory. Starting April 22nd, I will host a series of 15-minute episodes focused on leadership, public speaking, and coaching best practices. The first episode will clear up common myths about authentic leadership and offer practical advice on how to lead genuinely without losing focus on solutions.

What Authentic Leadership Really Means
Authentic leadership is often misunderstood. It's not about sharing every feeling or reacting emotionally to every situation. Instead, it means being genuine and consistent in your values, actions, and communication. Authentic leaders build trust by showing who they truly are while maintaining control over their decisions and responses. BUT it's NOT always easy..
Genuine vs. Emotionally Driven Leadership
Many confuse being authentic with being emotionally driven. Here’s the difference:
Genuine leadership means acting in line with your values and beliefs.
Emotionally driven leadership means reacting impulsively based on feelings, which can lead to inconsistency and negativity towards change and standards within your team.
For example, a genuine leader might express concern about a team challenge but still focus on finding a solution. An emotionally driven leader might let frustration take over and lose sight of the goal.
How to Lead as Your Most Authentic Self
Leading authentically requires balance. On the next episode of the DWP podcast, we will review the steps to genuine leadership:
